| alright, heres my explanation of the universe. keep in mind, this is not a complete description.
so a few weeks back, i was thinking about time and how it functions. since time is clearly part of our universe, it must behave like other aspects of the universe. matter by itself is frozen in space. it only moves because one of the forces of the universe forces it into movement. each force affects the motion of the particle with a different magnitude, but every force (strong, electroweak, magnetic, and gravity) forces the particle to follow this path:

the closed circle around the origin is the stable orbit, or the event horizon. it is important to remember that the particle can move in 3 dimensions, but the forces of the universe force it to move pretty much along a plane (look at the galaxy for example).
so with that description of the way matter moves, lets move on to time. now when i came up with this, i was looking back on the course of human history. i noticed that there is a cycle of innovation and stagnation. periodically, there is a rebirth, if you will, such as the Renaissance. and this period of innovation is always followed by a period of stagnation. a good example of that is the dark ages. there are other words for this. if youve had an anthropology class, you know what a paradigm shift is. if you havent, ill explain it. a social paradigm is basically the general mindset of a person or people at a specific time. there are, at any time, many paradigms, but there is always one that is dominant. a paradigm shift is when the dominant social paradigm changes. throughout human history, theres been about 12 paradigm shifts. so i was looking at that, and i noticed that as one follows the timeline, the length of time between paradigm shifts gets smaller as you approach the present. how can that be explained? what that tells me is that time cannot be linear (i know it seems that way, but i will explain shortly.). (if you think of the x-axis on the fibonacchi diagram as a continuum between innovation and stagnation, youll see my logic.)
the inconsistencies in our view of time disappear if we think of time as 3 dimensional (its easier to think of it as separate from the physical universe, which is how i will explain it, but keep in mind that it exists in the same space as the physical universe. these are 6 of the 10 theoretical dimensions of the universe). since the 3 dimensions of time are dimensions of the universe, the forces holding the universe together bend not only the 3 traditional dimensions, but also those of time, and force matter to follow the same path as above. so the fibonacchi spiral is the shape of our timeline. now, at every point in the time dimensions, there is a specific combination of everything in the universe. points right next to one another are only very slightly different. every possible combination of atoms, people, countries, planets, solar systems, galaxies... every possibility exists in the 3 dimensions of time. our timeline, therefore, is set in stone. everything that happens, happens because it falls along the natural path of our timeline. since time is 3 dimensional, there are an infinite number of possible timelines, which all play out and all fall towards the same stable orbit. these are the "parallel universes." we are all drifting through this space, following the natural path of our timeline (see above) until we reach stability, or nirvana, if you will.
now, it has been observed that time progresses at different rates at different points in the universe, like around a black hole for example. this is because of any arbitrary force (strong, gravity, etc). the order of force in terms of how much they warp time (and space for that matter) is: strong, electroweak, magnetic, gravity (least to most). the type of force, coupled with the strength of that force, tells us how much time gets warped. so, for example, Earth is about 2/3 of the way to the edge of the galaxy. time here is as we observe it. however, toward the center of the galaxy, everything moves so much faster than where we are. the laws of physics cant change to accomodate higher speeds, therefore time must change. the velocity of every particle is completely governed by the flow of time. if we were at the center of the galaxy and observed Earth from there, it would seem to be moving very slowly. as we move closer to Earth, its apparent speed would increase. with that in mind, if we observed a star near the center of the galaxy from far away, it would seem to move so fast that all we could see is a "cloud" made up of that star. so lets think about an atom now. although it is governed by a different force, the pattern is the same. an atom is so small that even if we were right next to it, we're still far enough away that we are completely unaffected by the forces binding it together. and because of this, all we see is a "cloud" of electrons moving around the nucleus, which in itself is nothing but a "cloud" of quarks. this explains the Heisenberg uncertainty principle (one can never know the exact location of a particle and the velocity at the same time), because the particles (like electrons or stars in a faster timeframe) move so fast that we cant distinguish them.
with this in mind, it can be logically deduced that to an observer from outside our universe, where universal forces have no effect, the entire universe is like an atom, completely indistinguishible. all possibilities happen instantaneously. however, unlike the atom, whose forces have a very slight effect on the surrounding world (i say this because we can determine the speed of an electron), since no force has any effect on our observer far from the universe, the apparent speed of all particles is infinite. therefore, beyond our universe, time has no meaning whatsoever (which, incidentally, is one of the core beliefs of the Eastern religions. also the Western ones too, if you read into them far enough).
now that we have all that in mind, here is the history of the universe. first, there was a singularity of seemingly infinite mass. then it exploded. in the first picoseconds (from our perspective), quarks followed the natural path (above) and fell into stable forms (protons, strong force). then the weak force came into play, creating neutrons and other barions and mesons. then came magnetism. nearly massless singularities (electrons) then fell into stable orbits around the nuclei. each of these steps took slightly more time than the step before it. once atoms were formed, the universe was a giant gas cloud. then excess magnetic force caused particles to come together. time at this point is still progressing quite quickly from our perspective. the observable elapsed time now is a few microseconds. eventually, the clumps of matter got big enough that gravity stopped being negligible. gravity has the biggest effect on time, so around these clumps of matter, time began to slow. eventually these clumps became enormous centers of gravity, which warps time to the familiar progression that we know.
so there it is. tell me what you think.

| i guess its been a couple months. its amazing how fast time goes by when youre doing less than jack shit. so theres a lot of things different in my life since that last post.
well, the first thing is im no longer in muncie. mike went to florida to finish school and i couldnt afford to stay there by myself, so im in lafayette now. its ok though. i was pretty burned out on muncie. so now im taking 1 class every tuesday at ball state. the drive sucks, but its way cheaper than being in muncie.
i have yet to find a job here, which sucks. i need to find something soon. im getting really bored and i need money.
so new years kinda sucked. i just stayed here. didnt do anything. i didnt even get drunk, or drink at all for that matter.
more than a month ago, i came to the realisation that i hadnt picked the right major. i dont really know why i picked political science. its interesting and all, but i dont think its what im here for. when i was thinking about this, i noticed that ever since i picked that major, my grades have become progressively worse. also my depression which led to the eventual decline into my current phase of reclusion started around that time. so after realising this i started thinking about what i want to do with my life and i came to the conclusion that i should get a degree in physics. ive always been interested in it, and ive always been good with the math involved. really, everything that im interested in ties into physics. so now, for the first time ever, i have a 10 year plan. first, im going to transfer to purdue and do physics. i should be able to finish in 2 years, maybe a little longer. im gonna try to start that this summer. while at purdue, ill take the equivolent classes to the ones i still need for my poli sci degree. so by the end of this, ill have 2 bachelor's degrees. anyways, after that, on to grad school. ultimately, i want a PhD. i dont know what specific field yet, but as i go along, ill figure it out. when i get out into the field, i want to do research on the theory of everything.
so yea, there you have it. i was going to tell my new theory of the universe, but that will have to wait, because im tired.
| lately ive been thinking about what the natural order of things are. you know, age-old questions about the purpose of the universe and humanity's place within it. ive come a long way in my explanation of it and, undoubtedly, i still have a long way to go. i will endeavor to explain it. this will sound a bit more technical than many of you would like, but bear with it, it is essential to the explanation.
the universe is nothing more than a perpetually-rebalancing energy disturbance. it began with an explosion of unimaginable proportions and will end in an equal and opposite implosion. it will then explode again and recondense and so on for all eternity. this periodic nature is not only found at the universal level, but it is also present in everything that has been observed or even hypothesised. so the universe is a wave. all existence is merely a ripple in "space-time." if you know much about wave properties, you know about harmonic frequencies. and for those of you that dont know, a string vibrates not only at the original frequency, but also at 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, and so on to infinity. those are called harmonic frequencies. everything expressed as a wave, which is everything, has a frequency that is a harmonic of the overall frequency of the universe. modern theory tells us that there are 4 forces holding the universe together. they are strong force, weak force, eletro-magnetic force, and gravity. another force is the color force. it is what holds quarks together in forming protons and neutrons, among other subatomic particles. excess color force binds the nucleus together, which is called strong force. weak force causes protons and neutrons to deteriorate and make larger atoms possible. magnetism holds together atoms. excess magnetic force holds together molecules, and excess force beyond the molecular level creates magnetic fields. gravity is a result of matter interacting with matter. each force is built on top of another. each force has a medium through which it operates. strong force is a pion; weak, W and Z bosons; electro-magnetic, photons; gravity, gravitons. if you consider each force as wave within its particular medium with a particular frequency, then the frequency of each force can be expressed as a harmonic of the forces above and below it, and they vibrate at that frequency because of sympathetic vibrations.
with this said, it can be assumed that there must be a master force of the universe at the highest level. and that got me thinking. what is this master force? what is it that binds the entire universe together? on some level, it must already be known to us. i mean, how could human society exist for as long as it has, being governed by this master force, without being aware of it on some level? for a while i thought it was time. it would make at least some sense, but from our observation, time is one-directional and definitely not a constant, as Einstein so graciously pointed out. time would be better suited as a medium for the master force. and then it hit me, and it was so blatantly obvious that i couldnt believe i hadnt thought of it before. the highest force is life. life is constant. it is the only constant. the universe, therefore, must be alive, and the purpose of time is then to facilitate life in all its forms. the purpose of life, then, is simply to exist and to continue existing. all forms of life are part of the living universe. just like the color force, each individual life has an excess force which contributes to the higher energy level. this universal life form governs all we do. because of our limited understanding and inherent need for complexity, we label this highest life form a deity. we call it God, Allah, Jehovah, Krishna, Vishnu, and the River of Time (buddhism), among many other names. All creatures know right from wrong, which delineates from this highest power, which explains why the teachings of every religion are pointing people in the same direction. gods, therefore, are merely feeble constructs of the human mind; attempts to explain what we know on every level as truth, but cannot yet understand.
| well, its been a while, hasnt it? where to begin...
so im living in muncie now. my cousin, mike, is my roommate, which is going alright. ive been working at ryan's, which sucks, but its a paycheck (barely). i havent really done a whole lot over the last few months. basically just working (fuck ryan's), smoking pot (a lot less often than i used to), and playing my bass (which ive become a lot better at). the beems broke up a while back, so that adventure is at its end, but i have a new band now, consisting of myself on bass, mike on guitar, and eric on other guitar. we're the "genii of sorts." we still need a drummer, so if any of you out there are pretty good at the drums and want to be in a band in the muncie area, talk to me. and for recording purposes, it would help if you had some e-drums.
i know a lot of you are thinking, "damn brad, i thought by now you'd be a billionaire or something." well, fear not. i now know how i will make my enormous fortune. so you can put those fears to rest. im going to completely revolutionise all industries as we know them. once my ideas take hold, the world will be a much different, cleaner place with a constant supply of renewable energy that will be free to all. i wont go into how it will happen, because i know that certain people out there are bitches and would steal my idea, but rest assured, i have a plan.
as always, i cant seem to get politics out of my head. so in my months of seclusion, i thought a lot about that among other things. society today is driven by money. everything is bought and sold, and, consequently, everything that our society values has a price. i dont know about all you out there, but i think that is a major flaw. i think that our society has come to the point where our concentration on profit has become a hindrance to our advancement. the paradigm responsible for capitalism took hold in the 16th century. the general mindset of the people as a whole has not changed since then. we are in desperate need of a change. the latest dominant paradigm has centered on money. the next, i believe, will be completely devoid of it. money, since the beginning of civilisation, has been the mediator. you exchange goods for money, and thats how it has always worked. however, money has also been the big divider. people with a lot of money, whether they realise it or not, use it to set themselves apart from the rest of the society, which has very little money, and in doing so, they exploit the rest of society. their wellbeing has been promoted at the expense of the other 98% of the populace. if we were to completely do away with money, the discriminator would be gone. that is the ONLY way that we could ever have a classless society. this would require a lot, especially from our generation, but it is a necessary transition. people today work to make money to pay their bills and provide themselves a lifestyle to which theyve become accustomed. without money, everyone would be provided with that same lifestyle, and all that would be asked of them is to participate in society and to contribute. and since the focus would be on advancement and not on money, our society could advance beyond even my wildest dreams. maybe i have too much faith in people, but this would work.
